Don’t burn out; just take a time out.
Feeling completely drained at work? Could you put your head down on your desk right now and take a nap? When it is 2:15pm and 5:00pm feels very far away, do you have zero motivation?
People feel drained at work for a number of reasons. It is very common, and fortunately there are plenty of ways to get out of a funk. We do believe this is something you can recover from.
As one of the best employment agencies in Florida, we are offering some advice on how to get out of a slump at work. Some may seem obvious, some may not apply, but we hope you find something that helps keep you from burning out at the office.
Acknowledge Your Feelings
Admitting is the first step to recovery, right? Admit when you are feeling worn down. Recognize when you need to recharge. It is important to acknowledge these feelings before you have a total melt down.
Ask For Help
Lots of people don’t ask for help when they need it. Maybe it is a pride thing? Perhaps it makes people feel weak? We are not sure. What we do know is that it does not show weakness to ask for assistance, it actually shows strength and wisdom. Wisdom in recognizing you need help and strength in requesting what you need. You can’t do everything on your own and you definitely can’t do it all when you’re feeling sluggish.
Get Some Fresh Air
Stepping away from your workload can be helpful when you feel yourself starting to get drained. Go for a short walk outside to clear your head. Take some deep breaths. Breathe in to revitalize and exhale negative energy.
Watch What You Eat at Lunch
No you don’t have to make yourself a green, kale smoothie every day. You can figure out what works best for your body by experimenting with different foods. Keep in mind; people tend to get sleepy after lunch at the office no matter what they eat, so you’re not alone.
Do Not Overload On Caffeine
We know coffee is what wakes many people up in the morning. Caffeine seems like an obvious solution for someone who is sleep deprived. However, remember that what goes up must come down. When you ingest caffeine you are essentially borrowing energy from the next day, like a credit card. This further depletes your body of energy, which will only make you more sluggish and crave more caffeine. It can become a vicious cycle. Slowly breaking the habit can make a world of difference. As always, everything in moderation.
Take a Vacation
Sometimes gaining your motivation back needs more drastic measures. If you can, get away with a vacation. Or even a stay-cation. Don’t think about work, just focus on relaxing and recharging. Hopefully when you return, you will feel re-energized.
