With the plethora of career websites, job boards and recruiting agencies, –how do you know what really works? They’re all basically the same, right?
Wrong.
Recently I read an article published on StaffingTalk.com. It tracked, in great detail, the numerous “fails” by a particular online job board. The failures of this particular board were tracked by a journalist who decided to respond to a random email he received from a career website regarding an open position. He wasn’t actually interested in the position but used the initial email to conduct his own investigation as to whether these types of sites (who have almost everything automated) actually work. As you may have guessed, there was a definite breakdown.
Here’s the breakdown of this journalist’s findings:
First Contact: Email to journalist from the career site which said, “Hi David, An employer or recruiter on our site just posted a job that matched with your profile. If you’re a fit, apply now!”
From there the journalist clicked the View Job description in email, and then followed on to the Apply Now button, to submit a cover letter and resume.
Before he did that though, he went back to take a look at the profile of the company looking for an employee. The brief, one-line description read as follows: Seeking an outstanding internal communications strategist for a newly created department. Feel free to reach out to me with any questions.
The journalist tried to contact this Fortune 50 company, as stated in the profile.
No answer.
As the next step of the experiment, he went ahead and created a resume and cover letter, submitting it through the site.
No reply.
Not even a, “Thanks, we got this!”
Long story short, without going any further into the quite lengthy string of details, here’s the takeaway:
- The job no longer existed by the time the email was blasted out (automatically).
- The journalist wasn’t even in the market for the job he received the information for.
- His qualifications did not fit this position he received the email for.
- And most importantly, no one got back with the journalist after he sent in a test resume.
So, What Does This Story Have to Do With HH Staffing Services?
Actually, absolutely nothing! And we’re very proud to say that. We’re a large, growing, full service staffing agency, servicing the Tampa Bay, Orlando, Clearwater, Bradenton, and Sarasota area, but we’re still ‘personal attention’ minded, and always will be.
Are we on the cutting edge of today’s technology? Of course! We’re very involved in social media, we have online applications for the convenience of potential employees, and we send out newsletter blasts, but the difference with us is in the relationships we build. We are the liaison between the employer and the potential employee
When a potential employee first contacts us it may be through a Facebook ad or other marketing materials online, but we believe that too much automation leaves room for job seekers as well as the companies we serve to fall through the cracks, and that’s not what we’re about.
If you want to work with an industry leader who has the experience, knowledge and personal attention balanced with the best use of technology, you’ve come to the right place. From our employee skill assessments and reference checks to the personal attention and unique ideas we bring to companies looking for staffing services, we go above and beyond. HH Staffing Services is not about filling slots with bodies. We’re about matching the right candidate with every opening. That’s why we have ongoing relationships with the businesses we serve.
If you haven’t contacted us yet, what are you waiting for? Whether you’re a job seeker or a business owner, we’ll cater to your individual needs and promise to give you a remarkable experience!
